14" Stystadahl Style Rosemal Plate by Mary Schliep

Look at this unique Stystadahl style Rosemal plate created by Mary Schliep! This gorgeous 14" plate is stunningly beautiful with a halo of added embellishment around the outer ring of the plate.  The plate itself is painted a dust barn red color with a blackish-green outer rim.  An ochre band separates the center from the rim. The floral decoration is executed with ochre, green and rust/red, with white accent dots and fine black detailing that really enhance the beauty of this piece.  

Mary has taught at North House for over 20 years and is a walking encyclopedia and teacher of all things Rosemaling. She has a devoted following and is happy to share her skills with beginners and experienced painters alike. Mary started rosemaling in 1989 and has been busily painting ever since. Mary specializes in the Valdres and Telemark styles (each defined by the geographic region where they found their beginning in Scandinavia). Since the school's founding, Mary has been a consistent teacher at North House. She primarily does consignment work for people across the nation. Mary has studied with twelve Gold Medalists and two Norwegian instructors.

Mary has trained with experts around the world and brings her love and expertise of Rosemaling to the many Rosemaling courses that she teaches as well as to the crafted pieces that she brings into our school store to sell to the public!
