Hand-carved by our North House instructor, Jon Strom, this handsome birch spoon is 16.5" long and 2.5" wide has graceful lines and a perfectly notched handle to hang on the edge of your pot. The spoon has a light oil finish. Hand wash and treat regularly with a food-friendly oil such as tung oil, don't let it soak in water, and keep it out of direct heat to preserve this handcrafted item for a lifetime.
Jon is a sculptor, woodworker, and log builder from Cook, MN with a strong interest in Swedish spoon and bowl carving techniques as well as the history of log building. He has demonstrated at Grand Portage National Monument, Old Fort William, Forest History Center and White Oak Society, and has taught at various workshops, including Goods from the Woods in Grand Rapids. Jon also has designed his own personal bowl carving bench, which may be adapted by students for their own workshops.
