Cherry Bowl, CTernes
Cherry Bowl, CTernes
This is a beautifully hand turned and finished cherry bowl crafted by artisan Cooper Ternes. This lovely bowl is 14 1/4" wide and stands 4" high on a lovely turned foot. The bowl showcases the natural variations of color and markings of the cherry wood- the inside of the bowl resembles a topographic map of sorts- the history of this tree! Cooper does an incredibly tasteful job choosing the placement of wood on his lathe and this bowl shows the care he has taken. The bowl weighs a bit over 2 1/4 pounds and is a perfect size for a family-sized fresh garden salad among other imaginings.
Cooper is a former intern at North House and is a part of our new Artisan Development Cohort starting in September 2024 where he will continue to pursue his passion in woodturning and other craft. Cooper thinks of his work as a modern interpretation of the wooden bowls in the Scandinavian folk tradition. The tools and approach of these old makers inform the process he uses today. He is exploring the balance of form and function by creating objects intended for daily use and for the celebration of the communities we create through a shared table.
