Felted MN Ornament by Elise Kyllo
Felted MN Ornament by Elise Kyllo
Display pride in our home state of Minnesota! Felted by our North House instructor Elise Kyllo, this unique ornament depicts the colors of Minnesota, with the blue of our lakes and the Mississippi River, the greens of our forests, and the yellows of the grain fields. Please note that being handcrafted they may vary slightly from the photo.
Wool as an artistic medium entered Elise's life over twelve years ago, replacing paints, clay, and inks with a desire to create things of beauty and usefulness. As a graduate of our Artisan Development Program, she continues to create magic with felted wool. “It’s somewhat of a mystery as to how I fell in love with wool, but undoubtedly it’s the close connection to the land, the sustainability of fiber from sheep and the magical transformation of wool into practical and beautiful things requiring little more than water, soap and agitation. Felting is completely intoxicating and never, ever dull. There is joy, playfulness, and happy surprises when working with wool, which I love to share with others.”
