Paddle to the Sea

A Caldecott Honor Book, Paddle to the Sea is the favorite book of all time of many many children and the parents that were lucky enough to get to read it out loud.  Filled with intricate illustrations on every page, the story follows a hand made wooden canoe carved by an Indian boy on Lake Nipigon in Ontario (just to the North of where North House Folk School exists) on an adventurous journey to Lake Superior and all the way to the Atlantic Ocean.  The boat is named Paddle-to-the-Sea and tells the wonderful (and inadvertently educational) tale of its four year journey through locks and lakes and mouths of dogs.
