Seasonal Birch Pin Kits by Jo Wood

Jo Wood is a renowned bead artist who creates beautiful "painted" scenes from nature using glass beads and felted wool textiles. North House is so lucky to have Jo as an instructor who teaches classes on campus as well as online. Our school store is fortunate to be able to offer several of Jo's pin kits!

The series of Birch pins celebrate the quintessential Paper Birch that is an icon of the North Shore.  Four different kits celebrate the wonderful four seasons of Northern Minnesota and the beautiful changes that the birch trees go through from Winter through Fall.  Each kit supplies everything needed to make one pin of wearable art. The final size of the pin is 3 1/4" tall by 1 5/8" wide. The kit includes beads, needle, thread, felted wool fabric, inner facing, backing metal pin pack plus complete directions for beading and finishing, a template and stitching diagrams. The pins are make using an applique technique on felted wool.  Instructions for all the basic stitches are included. Some familiarity with bead applique will be helpful but is not necessary to complete the kit. 

Living and working in Northern Minnesota for over 20 years has given Jo the time to know shorelines, forest trails, and gardens where flowers gesture, trees reach, and water moves. Through her art she shares this connection to nature, the abundance, peace and beauty of this place.
