Sweetgrass&Sedge w/Lg Agate Base #3, PSundetwolf

This large sweet (yes, pun intended!) basket is woven of sweetgrass and sedge, built upon an unusual base of a blue, brown, white, and clear agate slice. There are three primary bands of threads. The lower band is simple ivory threads, the middle band is a crisscross of green threads, and the top band is a narrow ornate band of black threads.  The basket is approximately 10.5" by 10" in diameter and 2.25" high.

Paula has been gathering grasses and brush to make traditional crafts for the past 25 years. A resident of northern Minnesota, Paula has a deep appreciation for the North Woods and its resources and likes to convey that appreciation through her basket weaving and twig furniture. Paula has an MA in anthropology with an emphasis on utilitarian art of North American cultures.
