The Nordic Cookbook
The Nordic Cookbook
Magnus Nilsson is something of a renaissance man. The Swedish chef was the popular founder of the award-winning Fäviken Magasinet restaurant in Sweden. In preparing to write The Nordic Cookbook, Nilsson not only read all the other English-language titles ever published on the subject, collected every single recipe for the book, and travelled to every corner of the region, he also took all the photographs.
Weighing in at over five pounds, with over 700 recipes, Nilsson says that a "majority of the recipes will be able for most people to make in their homes, but not all of them"! He says that a book like this is "as much a documentation of food culture to learn from and get inspired by, as it is an instruction on how to cook specific dishes." Most recipes have an introduction describing how they are most commonly served and why- the language is fun and easy to follow and reading through it is like a master class with Nilsson himself.
Book is hardcover bound, 11" X 7.5" X 2.5", color photographs with some black and white instructional illustrations.
