The Workbench Book

I still remember my childhood fascination with my father's workbench - the things that turned, the grooves in the surface, the sawdust and curly shavings of wood everywhere.  Scott Landis has authored The Workbench Book, a Craftsman's Guide to Workbenches for Every Type of Woodworking.  As are all the books from Lost Art Press, this is wonderfully illustrated with photos and drawings and includes 16 chapters covering:  the evolution of the workbench through time, a multitude of types of Benches, Vises, Boatbuilding, Japanese Beams and Trestles, Carving, Country Shaves and Brakes, and appendices with bench plans.  I'm surprised that sawdust didn't fall out when I opened the book - it is as fascinating for me today as my father's workbench was "back then".
